The Fortress of Rasnov / Town of Rasnov

The monument was build around 1355 as defence area for the Barsa County; it had military strategic importance, but it also functioned as customs. The walls of the Rasnov fortress sheltered Mihael the Brave's troops and throughout its entire history it was conquered only once. It has many elements belonging to the feudal style and currently its 5 m high walls house a Middle Age art museum (weapons, furniture, and galleries), popular arts and the remains of the more than 30 houses in wich the dwellers used to live.
